Meet Victoria Beaty, our new Executive Director!

Hi Friends, Supporters, and Partners,

My name is Victoria Beaty, and it’s an honor to introduce myself to you as the new Executive Director of Growing Places Indy (GPI). I’m humbled and excited to lead this vital organization into its next chapter.

A little about me, after years of working for a large fast-food brand and learning how the food system works, I decided to resign from my corporate leadership position and enroll in an urban farming program. Here is where I found my true passion for urban farming and educating my community on the importance of eradicating food deserts that plague communities of color.

Last year, I was introduced to Growing Places Indy. During my time as a summer apprentice, I fell in love with the organization’s mission of empowering people to cultivate personal, family, and community wellness through urban agriculture, access to fresh local food, and mind-body education. During my time here at GPI, I’ve worn many hats, from a volunteer, to the Farm Manager, SNAP Outreach Coordinator, Market Manager, and now Executive Director.

As we move into the next decade, our city faces many pressures and challenges concerning food insecurity. Still, I am optimistic that we will continue to make a positive and lasting impact through our collective work. We know that GPI is a critical link between local farmers, food producers, and the community, and we feel a responsibility to protect the future of real food.

I want to take this time to recognize the tremendous effort put forth by the staff and board – a fantastic group of talented people who make our organization what it is today. Their collective skills and passion are unmatched, and I appreciate their dedication to our work and look forward to leading the organization to a bright future alongside them.

I would also like to thank my predecessor, Linda Cook. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to work with Linda over the past couple of years. I’m grateful for her continued dedication to this organization, while being a mentor to me.

We’ve accomplished a lot this year! As we close out 2019, thank you to those who volunteered, bought a CSA, shopped at our summer farm-stand, the Indy Winter Farmers Market, posted online, and donated. We appreciate you!

I’m very excited about the progress that 2020 will bring with your support. As you think about your year-end giving, please consider donating to Growing Places Indy.Your gift allows us to further our mission and deepen our roots in the community in which we serve. If you have already donated, we thank you and appreciate you!

I hope to have the opportunity to get to know you — our donors, volunteers, partners, and neighbors. I invite you all to visit the Indy Winter Farmers Market, happening every Saturday, now through April 25 from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Circle City Industrial Complex (1125 E Brookside Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46202)—I would love to meet you!

Gratefully,
Victoria Beaty
Executive Director

P.S. Thanks to a generous donor when you give between now and the end of the year, your gift will be doubled. Take a moment today and make a difference that has twice the impact.
