You Don’t Want to Miss These Local Summer Farmers Markets

The week of August 2 – 8 is National Farmers Market Week! Farmers Markets do so much good for their communities, like stimulating the local economy, providing jobs, and ensuring that patrons are eating high-quality, healthy, and local food. Supporting your local farmers market is a great way to invest not only in your own wellbeing but also the wellbeing of your community. 

To celebrate National Farmers Market Week, we’re highlighting Indianapolis summer markets that you should know!

North Church Farmers Market

When: July through September, first and third Thursdays 4 p.m. – 6:30 p.m

Where: 3808 N. Meridian St., Indianapolis, IN

The North Church Farmers Market is held on 39th Street adjacent to Tarkington Park, which is north of North UMC’s main parking lot. Hosted by North United Methodist Church, the market aims to bring fresh produce into an Indianapolis food desert area, support Indiana farmers, and provide community activities for the neighborhood. The market hosts a variety of vendors including A&M Bakery and CIBO Catering.  Farmers Market vendors and patrons may park in the church’s parking lot.

Broad Ripple Farmers Market

When: May 2 through September 26, Saturdays 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.

October 3 – November 21, Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

December – April, Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. (indoors)

Where: 6179 N. Rural St., Indianapolis, IN

The Broad Ripple Farmers Market (BRFM) is committed to supporting locally grown and produced foods by bringing their community the very best and freshest of each season. Although pre-ordering is recommended during the pandemic, all vendors have products available to purchase at the market. Vendors include Full Hand Farm, Lick Ice Cream, and so many more. Garfield Park Farmers Market

When: May through October, Saturdays 9 a.m. – 12:30 pm 

Where: Southeast corner of Garfield Park, Indianapolis, Indiana

The market’s mission is to support local, sustainable farmers and producers while creating a gathering place for community interactions. The market is taking extra care to keep vendors and customers safe; you can check out their COVID-19 guidelines on their website. Binford Farmers Market

When: May through October, Saturdays 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Where: Northview Church, at 65th and Binford

The Binford Farmers Market is an outdoor, open-air farmers market located at Northview Church, 65th Street, and Binford Blvd. The market hosts many vendors, including the Tulip Tree Creamery, Harker Family Farms, and Bloomers Greenhouse, among others. Original Farmers’ Market at Indianapolis City Market

When: May through October, Wednesdays 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Where: Southeast Quadrant of Monument Circle

The Original Farmers Market is located at the Indianapolis City Market. From fruits and vegetables and meats and cheeses to baked goods and unique spices and herbs, you can find in-season, fresh foods that have been selected at their peak. As you fill your basket with good-tasting, healthy foods, you’ll support the local growers dedicated to providing you with the freshest foods available. The market boasts a variety of vendors, some of which you can pre-order from, including The Flying Pig Farm, Redwine Family Farms, and Hobbit Gardens

Southport Farmers Market

When: May through September, Thursdays 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. 

Where: 2810 E Southport Rd, Indianapolis, IN

This farmers market started in 2013, has grown significantly in the past few years. The market hosts a variety of vendors every Thursday, selling products like fresh local produce, jams, soap, dog treats, plants, baked goods, and more!
