Farmers Market Holiday Shopping Guide

Looking for ways to shop sustainably and support local businesses this holiday season? Shopping at the farmers market is a great way to find unique and meaningful gifts for your loved ones while also giving back to your community.

Last year, consumers spent $777.3 billion during the holidays. This year, holiday sales during November and December are predicted to reach up to $859 billion, according to the National Retail Federation.

With predicted record holiday spending this year, it is essential to spend locally to boost the local economy. Shopping for holiday gifts at the farmers’ market is one way to find a unique and memorable gift while supporting local businesses.

The Indy Winter Farmers Market is the largest and longest-running winter farmers market in Indianapolis with over 80 unique, local vendors. The winter market runs every Saturday through April 30, 2022, from 9 am – 12:30 pm at The AMP located in the 16 Tech Innovation District (1220 Waterway Blvd).

Here are some unique, local vendors at the Indy Winter Farmers Market that may help with holiday shopping:

Pearls and Jade Indy Plant Shop

Plants are the gift that keeps on giving. Pearls and Jade specialize in pre-potted house plants in reclaimed, recycled, or handmade vessels. The company’s goal is to encourage the use of ceramic planters in indoor planting versus plastic, which is less sustainable.

Candle & Cole

Candles make an excellent gift for relaxation or just to brighten the home. Candle & Cole is a mother and daughter-owned team that offers hand-poured, plant-based soy candles. All candles are natural and poured in micro-batches using soy wax and chemical-free cotton wicks.

Broad Ripple Art Works

Buy specially handmade pottery from Broad Ripple Art Works as a gift for a loved one. Each piece is handcrafted with a unique design. Some pottery pieces include vases, bowls, and platters.

Pet Lovers Organic Bakery

Pets deserve gifts too. Pet Lovers Organic Bakery is a mother-daughter team that crafts healthy, organic dog and cat treats. They also donate a percentage of their profits to local pet rescues to help animals in need of shelter, food, and love.
