VOLUNTEER

There are many ways to engage as a
volunteer at Growing Places Indy!

We rely on volunteers to help maintain and grow our urban farm locations, to help facilitate our Indy Winter Farmers Market, to provide donation-based wellness classes, and to promote the general wellness of our organization as a whole through development, programs, and partnerships.

We have regular shifts on the farm throughout the week. There are typically additional opportunities to help with special projects and programs depending on the time of year.

November through April we rely on volunteers to help with many aspects of our Indy Winter Farmers Market.

Learn about our volunteer opportunities

We are able to host groups on the farm for tours or volunteering opportunities, depending on the time of year and workload on the farm. We will do our best to organize projects to accommodate groups of various sizes. If you’d like to bring a group to the farm, please email a request to rachel@growingplacesindy.org including a proposed day, time and approximate number of people in the group in your message.

Farm Sites:

    • White River State Park farm has the highest visibility with more than 3.5 million people using the area annually
    • Boner Fitness and Learning Center on the campus of Arsenal Tech sees thousands of visitors annually, is the home base for our volunteer efforts, CSA, and Farm Stand
    • Corner Farm at Oriental and Michigan Street is visible to area residents of Holy Cross and Cottage Home neighbors, Boner Center members and Arsenal Tech families and teachers on a daily basis, as well as, cars passing on busy Michigan Street and Oriental.
    • New Field Farm is perhaps our most charming farm area tucked in the Cottage Home neighborhood on Dorman and 9th street and is a starting point for workshops and some volunteer activities, as well as, a place for neighbors to enjoy.

Initiatives:

    • Farm Stand Sponsorship means you’re directly supporting our ability to provide low-cost access to our fresh local organically grown produce directly to the public
    • Indy Winter Farmers Market Sponsorship is one of the most visible and sought after sponsorship opportunities. The Indy Winter Farmers Market has become a valuable business building venue for many of Indiana’s farmers and food producers and the market  encourages an environment of awareness about how our food choices impact our health and wellness, individually and as a community. The IWFM also has direct impact our community’s access to fresh, local food.

Sponsorships are highly customizable. To learn more about the financial commitment and benefits for these sponsorships, email Linda@growingplacesindy.org.
